PDF Studio

Privacy Policy

Last updated September 2026

PDF Studio is built to process your documents on your own device. This page explains exactly what happens to your files.

Your PDFs stay in your browser

Opening, viewing, editing, merging, splitting, compressing, converting, signing, protecting, unlocking and redacting PDFs all happen inside your browser tab using JavaScript. Your documents are not uploaded to our servers for any of these features.

Local autosave

While you edit, PDF Studio saves your working copy (the PDF bytes, your edits and page changes) in your browser's IndexedDB storage on this device so you can recover your work after an unexpected refresh. Nothing is backed up to a server. You can discard the saved session from the editor's File menu or the Recent files page, or by clearing your browser's site data.

Passwords you enter to open or protect a PDF are kept only in memory for that operation and are never saved.

Signatures

Signatures you choose to save for reuse are stored in your browser's local storage on this device only.

OCR language data

The OCR tool downloads its recognition engine and language data files from a public CDN (jsDelivr) the first time you use it. Only those program files are downloaded; your PDF and the page images are processed locally and are not sent anywhere.

Analytics and cookies

PDF Studio does not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics. Your theme preference is stored locally.
